Transitioning from middle school to high school is one of the most difficult tasks of a teenager's life. Scott, the main character of Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie, is experiencing this transition and taking the reader along with him. Written partly in a journal style to his little brother who has yet to be born, this novel is an easy and fun read with a lot of humor. At times, it made me laugh out loud. However, the novel is not all fun and games. Like all teenagers, Scott experiences some difficulties and pain while navigating his first year of high school and learns many lessons about himself and his friends along the way. While the book is humorous, it is also a realistic portrayal of what it is like finding your place in a new environment when everyone around you seems to be changing, including yourself. I highly recommend this book to everyone. |
